Equity benchmarks started off the week with sluggish business as indices falling marginally on Monday despite better inflation data, weighed down by FMCG and banks & technology stocks.
Today Consumer Durables, IT, tech, realty, pharma and FMCG stocks dominated with the highest selling. However, capital goods, metal, power and bank stocks was seen buying trends.Midcap and Smallcap stocks also remained sluggish.
Finally, the BSE 30-share Sensex index fell 17 points and closed at 25,007. The NSE 50-share Nifty index fell 5.5 points to close at 7454 levels.
Heavyweights stocks HCL Tech, Infosys, HUL, Wipro, ACC, Sesa Sterlite and NTPC has dropped from 3.5 to 1.25 per cent. However, Hindalco, Asian Paints, PNB, Tata Power, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and Axis Bank shares rose from 4.1 to 1.7 per cent.
In midcap Sanofi India, Rajesh Exports, Zydus Wellness, Macloid Russell and crisil has dropped from 10.2 to 5.3 per cent. While in Smallcap stocks Hubtown, Ramky Infra, graphite India, Oscar Investment and NFL fell from 10.5 to 6 per cent.
In the midcap stocks Delta Corp, BF Utilities, TVS Motor, Oriental Bank and Arvind shares jumped up from 10.5 to 5.6 per cent. In the smallcap space, JK Tyre, Talwalkars, Capital First, Apar Industries and MT Educare moved up 7.3 per cent.
In Asian market , Nikkei closed at 15,296 with a gain of 132 points, or 0.9 per cent. Shanghai Composite rose by 1 percent and Hang Seng gain 0.5 per cent strength. Taiwan index closed with 0.2 percent higher.Strait Times and Kospi are flat.
