The market continued its consolidation for the third consecutive session on Thursday after strong run-up but the broader markets outperformed benchmarks for the fifth day in a row.
The sensex closed at 24,374 gained 76 points and the Nifty rose 23 points to close at 7276 . Midcap and Smallcap stocks rose 2.5 to 2.25 per cent
Consumer durables shares surge 7 percent and realty shares 6 percent. Power , Metal , Oil & Gas shares rose 2.7 to 1 per cent . Capital Goods , FMCG , bank shares were 0.5 per cent stronger . Healthcare stocks rose slightly .IT and tech stocks fell 0.5 per cent . Auto stocks were sluggish .
