After a blockbuster ride, the market ended on a strong note, marking second highest closing level ever.
Sensex managed to close beyond 26,000, while the Nifty reached over 7750. After showing modest growth in the beginning, midcap and smallcap shares ended sluggishly.
Today, Technology, Oil & Gas, IT, Consumer Durables, metal and pharma stocks shows a great buying trend due to whic market goes well.However, selling trend in capital goods and power stocks dominated. In today's trading session Sensex and Nifty touched 26050.4 and 7773.8 level.
Finally, 30-share index BSE Sensex gain 310.6 points and closed at the level of 26,026 with a gain of 1.2 per cent. The NSE 50-share Nifty index gained 83.6 points, ie 1.1 per cent to close at 7767.8 level.
Heavyweights shares Bharti airtel rose 5 per cent,Reliance Industries 3.3 per cent, HDFC 3 per cent, TCS 2.8 per cent, Dr Reddy 2.6 per cent and Hindalco moved up 2.6 per cent. Although Maruti Suzuki shares fell 1.1 per cent,L & T 0.9 per cent, PNB 0.8 per cent,Power Grid 0.8 per cent,Mahindra & Mahindra 0.75 per cent,BHEL 0.25 percent and Axis Bank shares dropped by 0.3 per cent.
In Midcap stocks, Thermax, Torrent Power, Suzlon Energy, Jaypee Infra, KSK Energy shares weakening by 8.5 to 3.6 per cent.In Smallcap stocks, Banas Finance, Savita Oil, Ceat and Indian Metals fell by 12.5 to 5.5 per cent.
